Based on the film, World War Z is a four-player cooperative shooter set to release next year for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Similar to Left 4 Dead, four survivors must use resources and their surroundings to lay waste to hordes of hundreds of enemies at a time. Using Saber Interactive’s new Swarm Engine, the game is able to render an absurd amount of enemies at once, emulating the visuals presented in the feature film.

Dynamic Swarm Simulation and More

The Horde, also known as the collective group of hundreds of zombie enemies, move and act in a mob-like fashion. They’ll cling together in crowded groups and sprint towards the living at breakneck speed. Beaten and bloody bodies tumble beneath them, slowing them down and becoming obstacles on the way to their prize. They can even use each other to climb up walls to reach higher targets, just like in the movie.

Features like adaptive spawn control and varying zombie mechanics mean the procedurally generated enemies are created to keep players on their toes. Enemies will lunge at you in the air, ram you like a bull, and spawn differently depending on the situation you’re in.

For true horror fans, the advanced gore system gives the added benefit of seeing all the blood, gore, guts, and body parts you love explode all over the screen.

The Horde is a menacing beast to look at, filled with opportunity, fear, and blood. Lots of blood. Use a multitude of weapons and strategies to defeat the undead next year with World War Z coming out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
